Val Thorens: the family resort par excellence!
First and foremost, you need to know that the Val Thorens ski resort has been awarded the Famille Plus label. This means that it has all the facilities and services that families need, including activities for children, a nursery and a local medical service.
At the ESF Val Thorens, this means that ski lessons are available from the age of 3, there is a lively Piou Piou Club and a safe, fun children's garden.

Several conveyor belts are also available on site, making it easier for beginner skiers to learn. So it's easy for youngsters to have fun and make friends, while their parents explore the ski area on their own.

Whether you've got a 5, 10 or 16 year-old with you, you should know that Val Thorens ski resort has several magnificent green, blue and red runs to suit all levels.
If your young skier is new to the sport, we recommend that you take a look at the Blanchot and Tétras pistes, in the Boismint sector. Here, you and your family can ski down almost 1,000 metres of vertical drop on both runs. Wide and pleasant, these blue runs are ideal for gentle training.
For an unforgettable skiing experience, try the superb Tête Ronde run, which starts from the Péclet Funitel. Moraine, Plein Sud... there's no shortage of good ideas for beginners in Val Thorens!

Red ski runs for (almost) the whole family
If your children already have some skiing experience behind them, they might be interested in the red runs of Val Thorens. Luckily, the ski resort has some of the most legendary runs in the region.
Take the Christine piste in the Péclet sector, for example. At the foot of the glaciers, the views are all the better and the skiing all the more enjoyable.
For something different, add the red Asters piste to your programme. Starting at an altitude of 3,000 metres, with quality snow and a fairly steep slope, your family will undoubtedly enjoy skiing it, as they would the Boismint and Plan d'Eau runs: a great combination that we recommend for your family holidays!
