Skiing is a demanding discipline that takes several years of training to master. Accessible from a very young age, learning to ski downhill is always punctuated by several tests with the ESF.
This ESF signature has been in existence for many years at Val Thorens, and even today it enables the progress of each pupil to be monitored through fun and stimulating assessments. What if your child could measure himself against the others in our ski tests?

Children's ski tests: to find out your level
The ESF's aim in organising ski tests for children is not to create a climate of competition between pupils, but rather to encourage learning and motivate apprentice skiers to surpass themselves, always in good humour. A nice medal rewards their efforts at the end of the course.
These tests also have another essential function: they enable us to determine the level of each child. This information is important, as it enables us to divide the young skiers into homogeneous groups adapted to their real needs.
In this way, it's easier for them to flourish with the ESF Val Thorens and learn to ski at their own pace, progressing in complete safety!

Ourson, Flocon... What level is your child?Positive, friendly competition with ski tests
There are several downhill skiing tests for children. After spending a few days at Club Piou-Piou, learning about skiing equipment, ski lifts and turns, children can try to win a Ourson medal: the first of many!
Following this first test, other fun assessments can challenge the apprentice skiers. Flocon level, 1ʳᵉ Étoile, 2ᵉ Étoile, 3ᵉ Étoile, Étoile de bronze... In total, more than 8 medals can be picked up and collected at ESF Val Thorens, encouraging all student profiles.
These awards enable each child's skills to be progressively improved, while helping them to discover different ways of skiing, in complete safety. By the time they reach the Étoile d'or, the highest level, they will have learnt all the techniques and will be able to enjoy skiing to the full.

ESF tests for all snow sports!
Children can also take tests as part of their snowboarding, Nordic skiing or freestyle training. Goomie Rider, P'tit Freestyler... Once again, these assessments are designed to establish the level of each pupil and help them to discover the full potential of these sports.
As far as the students are concerned, we are well aware that expectations can differ from one child to another. Learning to ski gently, having a good time in the mountains, skiing against your friends, winning an event...
