It's an opportunity for our Piou-Piou Club instructors to instil a passion in the little ones. And how can we mention them without introducing you to their doyenne, Loren Faivre, who will be welcoming your children throughout the season.

From the Jura to the seasons in Val Thorens, a passion for skiing
After growing up in a family of skiers and taking part in several French Championship competitions, it was at the age of 16 that Loren embarked on the adventure of becoming a ski instructor.
Although she was also driven by her older sister's desire to follow the same path, this native of the Jura was granted a Youth and Sport exemption to be able to take the first tests in the training programme.
While today's ESF instructors all follow the same curriculum to perfect their technique and promote the values and teaching methods of the French Ski School in each resort, in the 1980s there was still a distinction between teaching children and adults on the slopes.

It was this specificity that allowed Loren to give free rein to her desires and to focus immediately on ski lessons for children. It's a vocation she's never given up on in almost 40 years.

In her choice of training, but also from her first seasons as an instructor at the ESF in Val Thorens, Loren felt more at ease with children.
Spontaneous, lively or even joking, the opportunity to accompany them from their first glides on the snow to sometimes competition level still represents her greatest rewards today.
"A child takes everything in and listens to everything. They have no preconceptions and their reactions are more authentic." It's a freshness that Loren finds in all the activities offered to budding skiers.

Learning through play and fun not only allows us to respect their rhythm, but also to vary the pleasures and challenges throughout the day, with the joy of skiing with them always intact.
A passion for accompanying your children through every season
Every time Loren starts the season, it's the same enthusiasm and the same desire to put on her skis and discover her new pupils on the slopes or in the ESF's secure kindergarten.
Whatever their age, her kindness and enthusiasm are sure to leave an indelible mark on the memories of these young skiers.
Her former students now include young parents who have decided to entrust their children to her so that they can discover the joys of skiing and gain confidence on the slopes.

There's even one of our Val Thorens ESF instructors, Benoît, who took his first ski lessons alongside Loren a few years ago. It's a proud moment for our specialist instructor, and not without emotion, of course.
