The rules of the International Ski Federation (FIS)
The FIS (Fédération Internationale de Ski) has published ten rules of good conduct to be applied when skiing:
- Behave in a way that does not endanger others.
- Adapt your skiing to the different conditions: ski level, weather, characteristics of the piste.
- Opt for a trajectory that is safe for the skier below.
- Overtake vigilantly to anticipate skiers' movements.
- Check the piste or terrain before starting.
- Clear the piste quickly in the event of a fall.
- If you are walking up or down the slope, keep to the side.
- Follow the signs and markings.
- Provide assistance if you witness an accident.
- In the event of an accident in which you are involved or which you witness, declare your identity to the authorities.
