Getting the Val Thorens ESF to spread its influence beyond the slopes - that's Shannon's challenge!

In the Berthon family, meet Shannon! With a father who is an instructor and former moguls competitor, a brother who is the director of our ESF Val Thorens ski school and a sister who is a freerider, it's hard not to get caught up in the family passion from birth for this enthusiastic Savoyard!

It's a strong heritage that she's proud of, and one in which she's managed to find her own balance between the slopes and her freelance activity.

Shannon, choosing a path between skiing and marketing

Born in Val Thorens, Shannon quickly found it to be her best playground, both on and off the slopes. Enrolled in a specific session at the Lycée Ambroise Croizat in Moûtiers, she was able to take advantage of a 4-year course to complete her state diploma as an alpine ski instructor at the same time.

At the age of 18, she joined the ESF in Val Thorens to give her first lessons as an instructor, without putting an end to her studies.

Shannon took a marketing course during her post-baccalaureate years and obtained her first permanent contract at the same time as her medal. She used this dual qualification to find a balance between communications strategy and her passion for skiing. Although she started out as Community Manager for the Val Thorens Tourist Office, she now works freelance to combine her two passions as effectively as possible.

She puts her expertise in social media and freeskiing to good use for Salomon and the ESF Val Thorens, and continues her commitment to the school by teaching as an instructor for 6 to 7 weeks during the season.

Highlighting the ski school and the Val Thorens area

Located at the heart of the highest resort in Europe and the largest ski area in the world, the Val Thorens ESF has a lot to live up to. But it's not enough to convey the values of this unique region, as well as the history of our school and our passion for skiing.

And that's where Shannon comes in! Together with the ski school teams, she plans the architecture of our social media communication and builds our publications to better share what makes up our DNA.

Beyond the slopes, Shannon creates links with mountain enthusiasts, lovers of Val Thorens, beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders, and perhaps even with you.

Her credo is to move away from a certain kind of technicality and return to transparentauthentic communications. The best way, in her opinion, to share with as many people as possible her attachment to the school and to Val Thorens.
