Every year, it's the same wonder in Val Thorens. Many children take advantage of the Christmas and February holidays to take part in a torchlit descent through the heart of the ski resort.

This winter, don't miss the Torchlight Descent
Every Wednesday evening during the school holidays, something strange happens in the Place Caron. Accompanied by their parents, many children meet up with the ESF Val Thorens instructors and are given a lovely electric torch to light.
When it lights up in the night, before joining dozens of other fleeting sparks, it is the eyes of the children and their parents that begin to shine in the dark, in the glow of the coloured torch.
On the runways, close to the Castor & Pollux carpet, the parades follow one another, to the delight of participants and spectators who have come to (re)discover this magical night-time spectacle.

How can I take part in a torchlight procession?
The children's torchlight descent is an event that only takes place during the Christmas and February school holidays in Val Thorens. During the season, only four Wednesdays are available for this magical performance.
To give your child the perfect surprise, we advise you to reserve a place for your apprentice skier a few days in advance.

All you have to do is go to the ESF Val Thorens office and register your child with the appropriate person. Once registered, your little adventurer will be able to meet up with the instructors on the Place Caron on the day.
Both ESF students and the general public should be aware that all children aged 5 and over can take part in this original activity, provided they already have the Flocon level in their pocket. It's important to know how to control your skis if you want to enjoy the snow.

The Charity Torchlight Descent in Val Thorens
To make skiing accessible to as many people as possible, the Val Thorens ESF is also organising a charity Torchlight Descent in aid of Enfance & Montagne.
The aim of this lovely project is to help priority groups go on snow class trips, so that they can discover the pleasures of skiing and the mountains. The funds raised by this charity event will enable many children to enjoy privileged access to the ski resort and its activities.
As last year, the next edition of the charity Torchlight Descent will remain open to all. So, if you want to have fun while helping a worthy cause, make sure you keep an eye out for upcoming announcements from ESF Val Thorens. The date will be announced online soon!
