Perched at an altitude of 2300 m, Val Thorens is reputed to be the highest ski resort in Europe. It is particularly popular with families, thanks to its adapted infrastructure and the multitude of activities on offer; Val Thorens has also been awarded the Famille Plus label.

As well as the traditional winter sports, you can get your children involved in draisienne evenings. An unusual pastime that prepares them for the Draisienne Cup, a not-to-be-missed event at the end of the season in the resort.

Enjoy a convivial moment organised by the ESF Val Thorens

A holiday in the mountains is an opportunity to share unique moments with family and friends and to give your children unforgettable memories. ESF Val Thorens is staffed by state-qualified instructors who offer high-quality ski and snowboard lessons for children and adults of all abilities. But the ski school also offers a wide range of activities and organises events not to be missed, such as the Draisienne Cup.

Launched last season, the Draisienne Cup brings together more than 70 children in a draisienne race on safe tracks. Parents and relatives are of course invited to attend and cheer them on! Register your children aged 2 to 6 now for the next edition, to be held on 12 April 2025!

Training at ESF draisienne evenings

Whether or not your child is taking part in the Draisienne Cup, you can introduce them to this unique activity during the draisienne evenings organised by ESF Val Thorens. Every Wednesday evening during the holidays, the school welcomes children at the end of the day to teach them how to ride on a marked-out circuit supervised by instructors.

Wearing their ski suits and helmets, children aged 2 to 5 can pilot a draisienne with skates and learn to master balance, speed and orientation. All while having fun with their brothers and sisters or friends they've met on the slopes!

A crazy end to the season in Val Thorens

The resort knows how to celebrate the end of the season in style. The day dedicated to the Draisienne Cup is an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of the mountains and the ESF with a host of other events. There's a giant charity barbecue serving food, a refreshment stand to keep you hydrated while you watch the races or chat over a glass of mulled wine, and a crêpe stand for a delicious dessert and snack.

While participants in the Draisienne Cup receive a reward, there are also inflatable games for all the children, as well as a face-painting workshop. It's the perfect time to capture the moment in a photo! Last but not least, a DJ will be on hand to guarantee a musical atmosphere throughout the day and keep competitors and spectators alike dancing.
